Christmas Projects

There was a potato that enlightened me to the ways of the Munny, and since then it has brought me joy and colorful fingertips. (among other spots around my room)

Idea came from a girl online who made a realllly cute masterchief munny: Chelsea's Munny

I like hers better. ^_^;;;

I pretty much fail at keeping things simple. bwahaha.
Hope my brother likes this Christmas gift though. hehe

Nerf and Turf

Bought a nerf!

So at work, everybody has a nerfgun - except me. I don't really see myself shooting anyone in the face with this, (especially since it's modded for higher velocity, as per office nerf-war protocols) but I thought that since I had my painting gear out from Tony's cake topper wedding thing project that I might as well get more use out of them. ^_^;

Before:

Kinda sloppy, but I like it for my first mod. ^_^ I even added some weight inside to give it some heft!

Check out this guy's stuff though...nerf nothing! He makes it from scratch! 8 lbs of awesome: http://www.flickr.com/photos/14455307@N07/4923932637/in/set-72157624487252683/

He even has the step by step process.

I may go visit Osh Hardware store and procure some copper tubing craziness, but I think I'll stick with Nerfs (nerves?) for now. I asked my brother if I can give my nephews modded ner(ves) for Christmas this year. Without bullets of course u_u.

Nothing like some painting fun on the floor when you're home sick. :]

Fish Canyon Falls

Interesting hike. You have to take a van to go through a stone quarry to get the the trail head, and it's only available on certain Saturdays out of the year. A bit on the crowded side, especially at the end. Maybe because Mel and I caught the first day when it reopened from the big fire.

The multi-tiered falls really are something though. ..but Chantry still has my heart. :] At least in Winter. hehe.
I'm bet this place is perfect without the crowd.

Enjoy the show!

Rubio Canyon Falls

Itchin' for somethin' new, we try Rubio Canyon.
There is a lot to be said for this hike, and while pictures may mean a thousand words, it still isn't enough to convey the insane, ball-tickling (for me at least) day we had. Maybe I just need better vocabulary, or a hot air balloon to take better pictures with. Maybe I'm just easy to please. Maybe..maybe, you should get up and hike here someday! But to say the least, this hike had a lot of ball-tickles (have I mentioned that yet?), "don't look down" moments, waterfall falling, butt-to-dirt sliding, finger-slicing climbing, and one spiny plant that pricked my ass while I was scaling up the rocks. Got me up in a hurry though.

So here you go: Rubio Canyon Falls (some*)
Have fun!

*There were more falls to be seen, but we:
(a) were exhausted
(b) needed to nurse my sliced up, and very dirty, finger
(c) x=42
(d) were eager to bathe for roughly an hour in the cold falls below

Maybe next time. Hopefully, then, I can take video instead. A big backpack and a giant octostick is definitely not the way to go around here.

Here is the description we followed. I like how this guy describes the Leontine falls part. hehe.

Below Chantry Flats

I should just call this blog, the Chantry Flats blog, since that's all I ever really put up here huh? Someday I'll make these pictures really local so people can see what Chantry is all about.

But for now, you get exclusive privileges.

So this time around I take the guys to the bottom of the trail; the one I took last Easter Sunday where I saw the pirate pirate squirrel. Except this time, when we reached the river, we went downstream instead of up to the waterfall. For all of us there, it was our first time, and I sure wasn't expecting to take my camera out as much as I did, but here you go. Enjoy!

- press down + b to slide!
- press select repeatedly when you fall in a pit, and you can enter glitch mode!

*UPDATE! : I think this is the guy we kept seeing around the place:

  1. Taricha torosa - California Newt
  2. Wiki - California Newt
"Like other Taricha members, the glands in the skin of T. torosa secrete the potent neurotoxin tetrodotoxin, which is hundreds of times more toxic than cyanide. This is the same toxin found in pufferfish and harlequin frogs. Researchers believe that bacteria synthesize tetrodotoxin and the animals that employ the neurotoxin acquire it through consumption of these bacteria. This neurotoxin is so strong that it is enough to kill most vertebrates, including humans. However, they are dangerous only if ingested, and can be safely kept as pets."

Good thing Mel wasn't hungry at the time.

Hodge Podge

Poor blorg. I have been neglecting you haven't I? Well here we go, since I cannot sleep..let us update a bit.

Hmm. Seeing as how my macross project is getting dusty, I'll probably move that into a section of its own. But anyway..I couldn't sleep when I started going through the pictures, but now as I'm nearing the end, I am quite ready for bed. So quickly here, this is just a bunch of pictures I had left in my camera for a while now. Some adventures and misadventures with friends old and new. Mostly clouds (of course), and the waterfall hike (of course), squirrelz (duh) and an octo-stick. :o

Yeah. Enjoy! zzz.

Snowsome Hike

I told myself I'd go back to this trail when it got colder to see the snow, but I didn't expect to see it so soon. Granted, there wasn't much, but it was a pleasure to see. :] Nice to have been with friends at the time too. Sadly, it was late when we started and so the sun was already hiding behind the mountains just as we got to where the snow was. That made climbing the incline a lot more dangerous, being icy and all. Already, we were seeing a lot of the usual Korean hikers going down and slipping despite their fancy hiking sticks. One almost hit her head on a rock when she fell down, I believe. Lucky she didn't.

We'll go back next time. :] Most likely there will be more snow then.

Not much, but enjoy:

And here's the last time we went there:
